Video games can be defined as a game played by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a monitor or other display(oxford dictionary).
Hi guys.
Do you love to play video games?Nowadays, it has been proved that video games is one of the demanding software in the world. I believe that video games can be categorized as one of the popular entertainment form and economic contributor for many countries like United States or Japan. Today, I don't want to write about the expansion of the video games but i want to share about the reality of the video games player.
Video games can be defined as a paradise or angle for the certain people. Why? Because, they think that via video games, they can escape from the reality. The can relieve their stress and live with their own imagination. The problem here is the player can't leave their imagination world when playing the games. They can stand for a day just for playing the games without eating. There are a lot of cases regarding video games addiction.
Case 1: Suicide over a game
On December 27, 2004 committed suicide after playing World of Craft for 36 hours straight. Xioyi left a suicide note saying he wanted to join the heroes of the game he worshiped.

and of course, i have to limits my time when i play a game. :). so i dont think that game will totally ruin people's life unless they play a game non stop like 24 hours..
Hi Nur,
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I rarely play video game. For me, play video game is a form of escapism and relaxation. Then, I think that game (the ones I play, but not all of that game) are fun and it’s also fun to play with other people and experience new things. So, I don't think video games are an angle and it only one form of escapism and relaxation :)
In my opinion, those horrifying cases as mentioned above have nothing to do with the effect of video games. I am not saying that video games have any sort of effect on us; rather it is up to the individual how one perceives the video games to be. If one perceives as something harmful, then he/she has already set his mind to such thinking. Similarly, if the individual perceives video games to be beneficial to them as in Fernandez Thomas’s case, then it is going to be an advantage to them.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I do agree with the author that one can play video games until forgetting their meals. I say this because I used to be video games addict then as I found it to be an entertaining hobby as it helped me to forget the world for a while. True enough, it made me forget the world – including my homework and also my studies during high school. And trust me, my parents did not find my grades as ‘entertaining’ as the video games. I got grounded. In other words, NO MORE VIDEO GAMES until I fixed my grades.
Anyhow, I do not think it is fair to always put the blame on video games – how it can destroy a person or their future. Ultimately, it is our responsibility to be a wise video gamer. The amount we spend on video games should be reasonable and it is not all wrong to play video games, as long as it does not hurt anyone, except for the characters on video games.
People can be obsess with things that they love but that deso not mean that everone can be the same. Studies has proven that gamers are actually more intelligent than non-gamers due to their fast catching up information. I agree with what Qc said, let's not make games affects the way you love your life!
ReplyDeleteHi Nur, the case that you relate as an effect towards behaviour of people who play games is only an example. Maybe, the cases happen because the person who played the games, then do negative things, are because their personality is not in a good condition. I think, its nothing to do with the game. But, it just my opinion, i do agree people who play game will says "its okay even i dont eat, at least i have games".
ReplyDeleteAs Fernandez, I do agree playing video game can improve the vocabulary and English language. It has shown reality in my family. My brother does not like to study, but he has a little bit addicted on those online game which has actually help to improve the speaking skill. However, addiction of play the online game till ignores the study, it makes parent worry and sceptical on the benefit of the video games. Therefore, I do agree with Venisa, there is not all wrong to play video game. As a wisely human, we should not addict on the video game. Play wisely!
ReplyDeleteHi Nur, nice post! Actually I'm not surprise there are peoples could kill himself or other peoples just because of video games. This is because many movies that I watched has portrayed those action. Yes, the video games is not totally wrong but you know what, video games is the main contributor that driven them to act this way. Sometime they are too obsessed until they immersed themselves into those game character. There is one story where the son who is too obsess playing video games and not realizes that his father fell inside the bathroom and dead for two days already. It looks pathetic, right? I also like to play games but I think they should be smarter by dividing the real and virtual world.
