In the rapid advancement of technology today, people can connect with each other much easier. Using their smartphones, face to face communication has also been made possible. Nowadays, there are a few mobile applications (apps) that people can use to communicate face to face instead of just voice calling. Statistic showed that nonverbal cues cover 93% of communication whereas verbal messages only weigh 7%. Therefore, face to face communication is noted as an ideal interaction. Our tone, gestures, facial expressions, vocal inflections and environment moderate the denotative meanings of our words so much, that it is able to compensate for absence of emails and texts. Additionally, we have accustomed to using emoticons, punctuation, and other types of WRITTEN EMPHASIS to make our meanings clearer.
Hence, video-chat applications has improved tremendously in recent years. Smartphone users around the world can download and use multiple mobile apps to conduct face to face communication with their loved ones If voice calls can bring two people closer, video calls is able to bring intimacy to two people. With technology, distances are not so much of a problem anymore.
Below are several (free of charge) mobile applications available to assist us in communicating and interacting with others.

Second; because i can see my dad face without im being with him at kedah. I will know his condition, is he sick or not.. that why i prefer to use skype.. huhu
ReplyDeleteWhoever came up with video-chat application is a pure genius! No kidding, it is like a substitution for all your absence without having to cross the oceans. Of course, nothing can compensate the good ol' traditional face-to-face chat. But in the meantime, there is something to close the gap/distance when you're not around with your loved ones. No doubt, video-chat application is one of the best invention in this technological world.
ReplyDeletei use skype and wechat..!!!

ReplyDeleteIndeed, face to face communication contains more quality than mere voice calls. It is so much more meaningful to be able to view our friends' facial expressions and gestures. It's like we're not even apart. Although I am not an Apple user, I am fortunate to have Google Hangouts and Skype to cater my needs. Thank you, Technology! =D
ReplyDeleteIt so meaningful for me when I can communicate face to face even from 1000 miles away and prefer to use Skype :)
ReplyDeleteHi,honestly i never used any type of video applications. So poor right?
ReplyDeleteYou can try it now, it just a tool, since today is mother's day, you can try one of video chat application with your mother.
DeleteHi Yee Man..will try it later :)
DeleteIn my opinion, video chat is a solution for any lobd distance relation actually. I have been in a long distance relationship and without looking at each other for so long, we tend to forget how it used to be between us. Talking through phone is not helping much as we can't detect their expression what not messaging. So, any couples with long distance relationship out there, hold what you have with this technology because you can :)
ReplyDeleteWow, after knowing that we have so many video chat application today ( I only know Skype before this), I'm impressed. The technology really makes our life easier. I love to quote Yee Man's statement which is "If voice calls can bring two people closer, video calls is able to bring intimacy to two people." Agree with that! Plus, like Wanie said video chat able to show other people's expression and its like we communicate face-to-face too. After this, I would love to try Tango and Google hangouts. :)
