Be there at the moment

By: Nurul Fadzrena bt. Bini

All this technology we have, it's just an illusion
Community companionship, a sense of inclusion
but when you step away from this device of delusion
you awaken to see a world of confusion”.

The above statement is quoted from "Look up" video by Gary Tuck which has been get millions sharing in social media and get many feedback saying "very inspirational!", "Oh my God, so true!", "I am guilty to this too!" and so on.

Nowadays, we face with ,any high-tech gadgets and can share everything we want to social media in a blink of eyes. The social media now already become a world of self interest, self image, and self promotion. We share experience we have, but no one besides. We edit and exaggerated every thing, put every word into order and make our lives a glistening but we actually don't know either anyone listening or care.

So, when you're with your family, friends, or your beloved one, please look up from your smart phone. Not need to chat with your on line friends. Be there at the moment and appreciate them that stay besides you, look into their eyes. Never waste your life looking down because when the end comes without you realize, nothing is worse than regret.

  1. Phones become a companionship of an individual because of the games apps. They addicted the games such as candy crush, clash of clans and so on. It causes them tend to look down on the phone. Besides, this addiction has created different issue among people for instance died and divorces because of the games apps. Addiction on the games apps, ignore friend and family. At last, you have to pay the price yourself while they start to leave you alone. Would it be worth? I have to agree that people should look up from their phone. If you are addiction on the games, please stop and start appreciate the time that you have with your family and friend.

  2. The world is created with many beautiful scenes and people. We sometimes forget how we waste our precious gift to look beyond with the existence of phones. I like the part in the video whereby they mentioned that 'What if your loved ones is walking right in front of you but you are looking down?'. Wouldn't we would be alone for the rest of our lives? For me, phones can bring people closer but pushes others further away. Appreciate the moment, the phones will not show you how beautiful the world in front of your eyes.

  4. Good description, Nurul. Phone screens resemble a black hole that sucks all our attention. Be it games apps or social networking sites, we often unconsciously spend hours scrolling down to read more. In the end, precious time is wasted. Wise smartphone users should indeed utilise technology for convenience but also remember to appreciate the authentic, loving, essential, physical companionship.

  6. I'm agree with Nurul's statement which saying be there at the moment, and appreciate them who stays besides you and look into their eyes. This is because I have witnessed a scene of a family with a son and a daughter at a restaurant before. Both parents busy with their own Iphone while the kids enjoyed play games in their own Ipad. Then, in my mind, I think what a sad family they are. There is no communication happen between them because from what I observed, I know they came to Langkawi Islands for a vacation. But unfortunately, I could see their passion for a wonderful vacation got distracted by technology specifically games apps and SNS. Therefore, back to basic. Our grandparents can still live happily ever after even without technology, then why we couldn't do the same?

  7. Atikah, I'm totally agree with you. Today, this situations always happen and i find it very sad and critical. Majority of the people now have their own smartphone and they prefer to communicate using SNS like facebook, wechat, twitter compared to traditional ones which is face to face. Sometimes, even husband and my wife communicate via whatsapp or facebook although they are living in the same house. In addition, there is a trend when most of the people like to confess about their feeling in SNS (I love you, i miss you). In my opinion, it will be great if I confess to that person personally rather than using SNS. Don't you think like that?

    1. Yes, I think so. Confess their love by face-to-face is more manly and touching. Plus, we can see the real expression of them. I would say that for husband and wife to just say "I love You" in the Whatsapp or Wechat is not sincere enough.

  8. I agree with you, Fadzrena. It is an inspirational video by Gary Tuck. But I’m not saying phone is a negative influence. It is just a matter of how one uses their phone. Ultimately, it is up to the person if he/she let it be a tool of destruction or not.

  9. Yes. Its true Nurul Fadzrena. I agree with you. People should appreciate who are beside them. Stop looking at thr phone, and talk to person who near you, who can see you, touch you. Its even better than appreciate those online friends that sometimes, we didnt know also.
